Patient Rights
  • To receive information about your medical diagnosis, investigations, treatment plan, risks, benefits and likely outcome of any treatment or procedure. If you speak another language, assistance will be provided so you can make informed health care decisions.
  • To choose a particular health care provider for treatment. You also have the right to know the name and specialty of any doctor or any other person who is caring for you.
  • To receive screening and stabilization in case of severe pain, injury, or sudden illness without prior authorization from emergency department.
  • To know all treatment options for you and your designee and to participate in treatment decisions about your care.
  • To receive care that is considerate and respectful. You can also express your spiritual and cultural beliefs provided they do not interfere in others’ privacy and hospital operations.
  • To complete privacy during medical treatment.
  • To have your healthcare information treated with confidentiality. Information concerning one’s health and treatment may only be disclosed with informed consent except when required in terms of any law or an order of the court. 
  • To a fair, fast and objective review of any complaint you have against your doctors, hospital or other healthcare personnel.ovision.
  • To seek and receive all the information necessary for you to understand your medical condition.
  • To understand and receive information on the cost of treatment provided by the hospital.
  • To refuse any examination or treatment conducted solely for the education or information of others, or to have your medical case used for such a purpose.
Patient Responsibilities
  • To provide complete personal information, whenever required.
  • To provide accurate and complete information about your illness history and medications.
  • To obtain and keep appointments.
  • To follow the treatment plan recommended by your doctor.
  • To participate in your pain management and inform its effectiveness to doctors/ nurses.
  • To be responsible for your actions, if you refuse treatment given by clinicians.
  • To take care of your valuables and personal belongings.
  • To treat other patients, visitors and all hospital staff with courtesy and respect; abide by the safety rules and safety regulations.
  • To understand all instructions before signing the consent forms.
  • To provide accurate and complete information about your health insurance scheme/ coverage and to pay your bills in a timely manner.
  • To adhere to the hospital visiting hours (10 am – 10 pm) and inform your visitors regarding the same 
  • To adhere to no-smoking policy (as per Ministry of Health - Hospital rules)
  • Women in reproductive age are responsible to inform the doctor or nurse in case of suspected pregnancy and request test if needed to confirm especially if undergoing a radiology investigation.
